Salomão Bandeira

     Salomão Bandeira, marine botanist and ecologist with interest in coastal and marine habitats, biodiversity hotspots and restoration of both seagrass meadows and mangrove forests. He is based at the Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Sciences of the Eduardo Mondlane University (Maputo, Mozambique), has also lectured at the University of Cape Verde and the University of Lisbon.

      He participated in several research and policy development initiatives on environment and oceans governance, blue economy and conservation with a focus on Mozambique. He is an Associate Professor and holds a Doctorate Degree in Marine Botany by Goteborg University (Sweden); He is coordinator of Mozambique CITES Scientific Committee and member of the (1) Forum for Academic and Research Institutes (FARI) of the Western Indian Ocean (WIO), (2) WIO Mangrove Network and (3) World Seagrass Association Steering Committee.
